Zachary Comstock + Booker DeWitt - spoilers ahead!
Elizabeth

Personality: Isolated, lonely, and sheltered... Elizabeth grew up in a controlled environment by Zachary Comstock with only one true friend: a giant metal bird named Songbird. Locked away in a tower floating in the sky like some poor girl's Rapunzel, Elizabeth learned about the outside world through books. Songbird would regularly bring them to her and soon, she acquired a large collection. Though she remains naive to social interactions, she is incredibly intelligent. Elizabeth is seen reading advanced level physics books at the age of 19 and thoroughly understanding them. However, her knack of scientific theories are not the only thing she's acquired through reading and studying...

Elizabeth is a jack of all trades, learning through hobby books practical skills like painting and even learning how to properly sing. However, her technical skills are what makes her a formidable foe and great asset. She is skilled in lock picking, problem solving, deciphering codes, basic medical knowledge, and experience with guns and ammunition (though not through practice). Although she may know of these skills, applying them is more stressful. Elizabeth is more thoroughly tied to being academically smart, but can be rather naive with her belief in people and actions.

Her upbringing is very traditional in moral sense - she believed in the Bible, God, and doing good to earn her way to heaven. This is partnered not only with her isolation, but with the 1912 time period Elizabeth is from. Overall, this ensures that Elizabeth is naive. She shows sympathy to the poor and sick, pity for those who have perished in their rotten fights, and overall... Elizabeth puts her faith originally that people were good. That there was good in the world, even in a corrupt one. Overly caring, Elizabeth offers medical assistance to Booker during fights and tender moments with hungry orphans by offering them food.

She was incredibly trusting of Booker within such a short amount of time merely because he offered her freedom. She follows him, determined that all of her problems will stop when she reaches Paris - the place she's wished to escape to her entire life. This ties into a strong moral compass. She's naive enough to believe that the Vox Populi are bringing good to Columbia - that they're fighting the oppression of their people and doing what was right. Unfortunately, as her escape from Columbia continues, she sees more about how corrupt political figures are - both the Vox and Comstock's agendas were not so different - just different sides of the same coin.

In the beginning, Elizabeth's feelings for venturing out of her tower allows her to show a child-like excitement. She's shown to be quite impulsive throughout the game in varying levels: from opening a tear to let a bee out, to dancing with strangers when she hears music, and even stammering over her words for calling Booker by his first name instead of "Mr. DeWitt". Elizabeth's impulsiveness allows her to make bad or poor choices with good intention, which she will apologize for if called out upon it.

Despite her lack of experience and social skills... she is quite witty. Sharp with her tongue, she can criticize Booker DeWitt quite often or comment on the surrounding area. Her sarcasm is more apparent the longer she is with the pessimist Booker, allowing his personality to bleed onto hers a bit more. She is initially very cordial and respectful but as time goes on, she becomes a bit disenchanted with the ongoing environment.

Although naive, she has begun to understand that there must be compromise. There must be a fight. Evident by Booker's slaughter of Comstock's men and his involvement in Wounded Knee, Elizabeth is in the process of growing more of a realist. Elizabeth is shown doing nearly anything to escape captivity, from opening tears and even fighting her own. At the root of it, Elizabeth is focused on one task: to leave Columbia and gain her own freedom. This determination pushes her from being a victim into trying to control her fate, with the help of Booker.

Elizabeth grows more cynical as time goes on, latching onto Booker to use him as a tool to get her to Paris. She sees how cruel man is and how corrupt the government can be. Elizabeth learns of her heritage and all she wants is to be her own person - a normal girl. She dreams of baguettes and wine on the riverside with the Eiffel Tower in the distance, but will she get it?

Abilities & Skills: Elizabeth's main ability is to see possible universes and alternate worlds. By doing this, she rips open dimensional barriers known a tear. By her own words, she calls this a form of "wish fulfillment" and has been gradually been getting stronger over the years.

By manipulating her tears, she is able to see items and bring them into her world that can possibly benefit her. She is limited, though - large items will fade back to their original dimension while smaller items such as health, salt, ammunition can maintain themselves and be used by Booker during battle. By bringing in items, she is pulling alternate reality items where they do exist into a world where they don't exist.

The tears, if she is so daring to walk through or in times of distress, allow her to go to alternate universes. She sees possible futures where Booker was a martyr for the Vox Populi rebellion or Chen Lin was not killed. This is tapping into the infinite amount of realities and examining the constants and variables. In the later example's world, Chen Lin is affected by creating new memories that did not exist - this causes horrific mental trauma and will most notably cause nosebleeds. The mental damage is definitely a risk for reviving someone in the world, offering conflicting memories. Elizabeth's ability shows that she can revive people from the dead to some extent, but they will never truly be whole. She is merely a visitor in another universe or brings visitors to hers.

Elizabeth is still a very young girl, only tapping into a bit of her powers. From her early canonpoints, she is shown to be fidgety and anxious when closing tears suddenly. For large tears (jumping to a different time, dimension, or location), Elizabeth will get extremely fatigued. In a panic, if Elizabeth is attacked while trying to open a tear, she may miscalculate the destination.

Inventory/Companions: Lock picks.

Choice: Witch
Reason: Elizabeth is a character that is always an outlander — she has powers in a world where almost everyone does not. While not magic-based, I believe having Elizabeth maintain powers similar to her own would be interesting. Elizabeth is very science-based, studying theories for quantum mechanics most of her life — having something she can't explain such as magic will challenge her and be fun to play up!

Soft white fur line her lower limbs, thick hooves hardened with usage over time. Floppy white lamb ears rest under her long brown waves with sprouted spiral small ram-horns.

SKILLS

■ LOCKPICKING
■ CODEBREAKING
■ ARTISTRY: PAINTING, SINGING, WRITING, AND DANCING
■ RELIGIOUS KNOWLEDGE
■ CHARM

In addition, Elizabeth will have the ability to translate ancient older languages due to her back history working in a temple as a translator. Her specialty will be translating things from the religion worshiping Erodyn, Ink-Dipped Heron, but she will be quite well-versed in others.

ABILITIES

■ PORTALS - Elizabeth has the ability to summon portals (or tears, as she calls them) that allow her to teleport short to moderate distances (2 miles max). She has some control of them, but ultimately due to her lack of training in the arcane arts, she is unable to make much use of these portals. Unlike her canon power set, these portals are not interfering with dimensional boundaries and more are open "doors" that lead to different areas of this realm. Thus, she will not be able to pull items through these portals unless they truly exist in this world. IE: no pulling items from different dimensions.

Elizabeth's experiences with these portals are limited and she only began to recently experiment with such strange powers once coming in tune with a mysterious artifact known as the Siphon. Her inexperience makes it difficult to summon portals and I propose she has the following limitations:

- Max distance of 2 miles.
- Energy needed to create portal dependent on distance - meaning if Elizabeth teleports longer distances, she will be more physically drained.
- Elizabeth must rest for at least 30 minutes after a large teleportation.
- Can not use large portals repetitively.
- Elizabeth can only teleport 3 people at a time.

PERSONALITY

1. INTELLIGENT — Elizabeth is incredibly "book smart", knowing many of life's little trivia facts and history. She's well-versed in religious information, magic studies, and history. Elizabeth is able to carry herself with poise and confidence due to her knowledge and studies on specific topics (mentioned above).

2. CURIOUS — Elizabeth is incredibly interested in traveling to learn more about the world. As she spent most of her life incredibly sheltered as a temple scribe / translator, Elizabeth craves to experience new things and not squander her life away. This is an allusion to her captivity in her original canon, as she was locked in a tower her entire life and unable to experience the simplicities of life.

3. FRIENDLY — A good-natured girl, Elizabeth is always friendly and willing to lend out a hand to those in need. This is part of her carefree and charming nature as a satyr and also her upbringing by optimistic parents. This allows Elizabeth to integrate into social settings easily, even if she may be a bit awkward and doe-eyed over new experiences.

4. ADAPTABLE — Elizabeth has shown the cunning to adapt to most situations quite nicely. Thrust out of her safety zone, she is able to push through dealing with unsavory situations (such with traveling) or get herself in the good graces of allies who may help her travel further. It's not tacticalper say, but her ability to be resourceful in most situations makes her a capable young woman out in the wild unknown.

5. IMPULSIVE — Unfortunately, Elizabeth is as ambitious as they come. Even with her upbringing in a temple, the girl had dreams to see past the city walls of Atrómitos. Once she came of age, her ambition became impulsiveness and she set out to explore against the wishes of her strict parents. This choice sets the foundation for Elizabeth's impulsiveness, catapulting her into situations that may not be easy to bounce back from (yet, she still tries). Her impulsiveness is based on need and emotion above all else, acting almost childish at times when she gets an idea in her head. Something as simple as wanting to visit another city may yield her acting impulsively and stealing a carriage to do so, for example. She sees short-term above long-term reactions, blinded by her desires.

6. BITTER / HOLDS GRUDGES — Despite being friendly, she has a bitter streak. She often will bring up small things people have done that she disagrees with or they have done to wrong her. If anyone severely hurts her, they will not gain pity and she very much may find herself as their enemy over their ally.

7. NAIVE / FAR TOO TRUSTING — Elizabeth may be smart, but she's book smart. Limited in experiences and the way the world works, there are moments where Elizabeth may be too eager to trust someone who may have dubious or questionable intent. Elizabeth wants to believe people are good, believe they are just in their actions... and this want can be used against her.

8. INEXPERIENCED IN FIGHTS — Once again, Elizabeth has limited experiences while being raised in a temple. This certainly includes self-defense and trained in combat. The girl is far too use to talking her way out of her problems, so if a situation includes fighting... she is pretty useless!

KEY EVENTS IN GAME HISTORY

LOCKED AWAY... WITH A BIGGER CAGE — Elizabeth may not be isolated and locked in a tower alone her entire life, but she lived a very strict life in Atrómitos. Rarely was she allowed to leave the temple grounds unless it was on temple business. Elizabeth's whole life and identity was destined to revolve around worshiping Erodyn and devoting herself to Their glory. Elizabeth had no true friends growing up, merely following her parents guidance in transcribing and recording old world artifacts and scriptures. She had acquaintances through general worship but Elizabeth was very strict with abiding by a routine that ensured she paid attention to her duties above all else.

WISHING FOR A FAR OFF PLACE... — Eventually, Elizabeth gathers her courage to leave the temple and begin traveling on her own. She had no true destination in mind, but she wants to see anything past Atrómitos' city walls with the desire to capture the world's beauty through painting. Elizabeth doesn't want gold or fame, she wants freedom.

PURSUED, BUT FOR DIFFERENT REASONS — Elizabeth's arcane ability to create portals aligns with the discovery of an ancient relict rumored to be called the Siphon. Elizabeth steals this before leaving, believing it to be a powerful tool that may allow her to speak to Erodyn in another realm. Of course, whether that's true or not remains to be seen. Rumor has it that the item is strangely coveted by different guilds of power and despite this, she's swore to discover its full power. As she travels on her own, she'll begin to encounter people hunting for this item, pursuing her at any cost to capture it.

⤛ Sample 1:

[ The Atrómitos she once knew was no more. Nothing remained. No valiant city with a richness of both character and history... no pridefulness or arrogance. It was gone and the City of the Free Peoples in its place. The land was unfamiliar now, as Elizabeth would come to notice.

It was not home and Elizabeth, for the first time, felt as an outsider. She finds herself in the market, moving among goblins and gremlins, centaurs and tieflings — and gosh, it was a variety she was not use to! No elf or human crosses her vision for now, but the faint familiar chirping catches her attention from traversing so easily. At first, she ignores it — the blue songbird that followed her repeatedly since awakening. It had been some odd days and despite her want to lay low, the bird is far too protective or stubborn to leave her be. It follows closely, hovering and diving with a ferocious peck to anyone who has gotten too close to her.

As she searches for answers, the satyr is left fumbling and far more at odds with herself than she'd like. It would have been far more easy to blend in with this crowd than in Atrómitos, that's for certain and yet... this songbird that chirp and sings so beautifully for Elizabeth's attention seems to have other plans.

She comes to a crossroads soon after, the murmur of the market faint and distant. Elizabeth's wish to blend in failed and thus, as she finds herself around the corner of a jewelry tent, she points up to the small creature that settles on the top of the fabric tent. ]

You have been nothing but a thorn in my side, sweet songbird. You have no nest to return to? [ Her words were childish, desperate as she pleads with this creature. Fortunately, it's just as stubborn as she is to remain. ] Shoo! I don't need a warden to keep me in line! Shoo!

week 6 | before murder | KILL LOG

[ Oh, Mister Hancock... how could you ever do something as horrible to tell your special little secret to than theworst person imaginable? Behind the sweet demeanor, the deep cerulean blue eyes, Elizabeth was to be Hancock's demise.

Her fingers clasped around the neck of the wine bottle, clutching it tightly with her doe-like expression. A knock at Hancock's door and she awaits, eager to set things aflame. ]

week 4 | sunday evening

[ You know, the two don't run in the same circles. They don't hang out together so openly. Any "moment" or "clarity" they had between one another was behind closed doors. Elizabeth wasn't going to feel as if that was purposeful, so she has no problem calling his name down the hallway once the 'retirement' is over. Mr. Jack! Mr. Jack! She waits until Rhys was far away from him to strike.

TIME FOR SOME WORDS.

Elizabeth isn't shy snatching at his sleeve and tugging him into the empty cafeteria, just them among the empty tables and chairs. ]

What was that? Mr. Jack, you almost caused a complete diversion from the true case at hand! How could you have suggested something like that?

week 4 | sunday evening

[ It takes 35 minutes to bring water to a boil, remember the ingredients, mess them up, and remake it. She brewed a nice Almond tea, hot and warm that smokes between the two saucers. Elizabeth knew Frankenstein was so heavily involved - so invested in the past trial that... a gesture was needed.

Don't get close. She recalls it in her head. Her mind telling her that it was easy for one to trust only to fall victim - just like in this previous trial. This place had no logic to contend to, but to her? Being kind made sense. So she does.

A knock at his door and Elizabeth balances her tray with the tea kettle and cups. ]

week 3 | monday evening

[ It was really funny how things work. Men have a habit of dropping in her life where things are thrown - first a book to ..Booker... and now a tablet to her. She doesn't trust Jack as much as she would like, reminded that this was some sick game but... she does agree to meet up with him when he invites her to see games. She's gotten smarter about this, telling Fiona exactly where she was heading during this time frame. Just in case. She's uneasy, thinking a bit pessimistic about what could happen... but she shakes it off.

With a knock at his door, Elizabeth peps her voice up. ]

Mr. Jack? Is this a good time - I can come back if you're not ready!

(no subject)

Booker,

If this letter ever reaches you, I must thank you from the bottom of my heart for freeing me. The freedom you've gifted me, even with your motives nothing short of selfish, allowed me to see how both cruel and beautiful the world is. From my balcony, the specks of orange and violet at the sunset seemed so insignificant but when partnered with the sprawling waves of Battleship Bay, it was ... it was a moment I'll never forget.

I hope you've found what you need to fill that hole inside of you, the one that brought you to Columbia to begin with. In my absence, had you thought of me? The girl in the tower who would to pay your debt? I'm not quite sure what your feelings were - or what they are - after we fought against the Vox but what little faith I was holding onto... it has faith with you, Booker.

There is none here. This place - these people are not like you and I. Even if I'm surrounded, I feel a bit alone.

I miss you, Booker. More than I thought I would have for a stranger who fell through my window. I thought I saw you in the chapel yesterday, praying to a God I'm not quite sure you even believe in anymore. It was foolish to think so but many others had their loved ones here too. Would it have been so selfish to wish that you were here with me?

...I don't know if tomorrow will be my last, but I know for certain there's a bit of me that is devastated that I could die as I lived - caged. But, please... above all else, don't blame yourself. Nothing could have prepared me - us - for this. It's fairly clear there was no way to prevent this. This isn't the same as defending ourselves. This motivation for murder... it's calculative and precise. I wish I was strong enough to summon what I did - I can't see anything... no doors, no tears... but somehow it happened. Maybe I'll learn to control them, but... without my powers... without any way to get back to you or to Columbia, the target on my back is getting bigger and bigger. I fear for how this will end.

If this letter reaches you, forgive yourself. Please.

- Elizabeth

week 2 | sunday evening right after retirement

[ Elizabeth had plans in the later portion of the night, but now, she was alone. It was curious to note that Elizabeth had been desperately trying to figure out the tablet - to write notes on it as if it was some typewriter. She's not exactly there yet, so that was abandoned fairly quickly.

For now, she was just about to leave to go alleviate some of the thoughts floating in her mind - a walk, possibly to the viewport? No, as soon as she steps out of her room, she's almost completely run into - ]

week 2 | sunday evening after retirement

[ Elizabeth was unable to think of anything other than that vivid imagery presented to them. Retirement - damnation was more like it. The girl was on her mind, how carelessly she thought in a poor attempt to defend her actions. In those moments, she also would think of those accused - Jessie and Jason in particular.

Elizabeth had asked for a message to be passed on to Jessie before excusing herself - to meet her at her quarters. Once they were able to return to their quarters, Elizabeth doesn't leave for the rest of the night. If Jessie got her message, she would have wanted to be here for it. ]
